About Me

Born in the beautiful south and had the good fortune to have many great experiences growing up as a kid in Queenstown. With the outdoors just there, it was summers at the shores of Lake Wakatipu or down on the cricket field. Winters were spent on rugby and football fields all over Central Otago and a bit of time in the mountains skiing.

Some time at University of Otago, saw me leave with some lifelong friends, wonderful experiences in a lovely city, and a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing and Tourism).

2003 saw me depart New Zealand shores for 10+ years to live in the metropolis of Tokyo.  It was where I found my love of teaching. I had the opportunity to work with some wonderful children, some great colleagues, and enjoy a whole raft of adventures that have shaped me as a person and educator.  It was also where I found someone to enjoy my life with.  The years have bought a couple more people into our lives.  Now my wife, two children, and myself have returned to Hamilton, New Zealand.

My children have Japanese as their first language, and are walking the path to bi-lingualism in their own ways.  It is exciting to be part of their development and learning.  It also gives me a microscope into the experiences of students learning English as a second language.

One more year of Tertiary education at the University of Waikato before continuing my teaching journey.  I am completing a Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Primary) and will be back in the classroom in 2016.  It has been a great start, and is racing towards its crescendo.  I look forward to sharing my experiences on this exciting ride with you.
